What is the University Third Mission?

What is the University Third Mission or "Extension activity"?

Alongside their two fundamental objectives of education and research, the University pursues a 'third mission' which means it works to encourage the direct application, enhancement and use of learning to contribute to society's social, cultural and economic development. From this point of view each university body commits itself to publicising and disseminating knowledge by means of direct relationships with the local area and all those playing a part in it.

To find out more consult the Green Paper for the promotion and scope of the Third Mission in Institutes of Higher Learning.

The Department of Historical and Geographic Sciences and the Ancient World implements its Third Mission additionally by means of the following initiatives.

CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TEACHERS

MUSEUM OF GEOGRAPHY
