The international conference "In ambitione artifices. Canvassing and Elections in the Roman Republic: Re-Assessments and New Perspectives" provides an occasion for debate and discussion on the topic of Roman Republican elections, with the aim of assessing the current state of research on their institutional, social, cultural, and political aspects and proposing new lines of investigation.

Papers by scholars from Europe and beyond will deal with a wide range of topics, such as the complexity of the Roman electoral system, electoral candidates and competition, the role of women and soldiers in elections.

The conference is organised by dr. Eleonora Zampieri within the framework of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie project "AMBIRE - AMbitious Bids: Investigating Roman Elections (78-46 BC)", which has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 10103325.

Participation is free.
