Prof. Dirk Hoerder (University of Arizona - Visiting Professor at DiSSGeA), Migrants developing a society, scholars developing a Transcultural Societal Studies approach: the case of Canada -- or: the several Canadas

Histories of societies need to start "from thebottom up" or, correctly from the majority to narrow the story down toelites. Scholars in the many parts of Canada -- a plurality -- have dealt withthese issues from the late 19th century on and, with the multiculturalismdebate, have arrived at transdisciplinary approaches that I have tried to bringtogether in the Transcultural Societal Studies approach. In this lecture itwill outline the migration history, the negotiations between the many parts, and the specifics of scholarship pluralism.

The seminar will be delivered online. Registration link: https://unipd.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0sf-itrT8oHtzqNJS5Yml3SL773VZ6aKUd
