Information for prospective TPTI students

 

Course Organization

The course includes three complementary specializations within a single training course: History of Technology, Management of Cultural and Historical Heritage, Conservation and Management of Industrial Heritage. The course is delivered through seminars, source analysis and teamwork in small groups, supervised by a tutor, individual meetings with supervisors, practical training courses and visits to sites. The course is delivered in English and French.

Students can potentially benefit from different kinds of scholarships:
Erasmus sholarships, TPTI merit
scholarships and Erasmus Mundus scholarships.
With regard to Erasmus Mundus scholarships awarded by the EU, our programmewas renewed for the 4th time.

Eligible applicants - Students

Students who were awarded a first cycle European University degree or other equivalent degree are elegible for selection (Licenciatura, Bachelor degree, Diploma di laurea di primo livello). The students' main areas of specialization may be, for example, in history, geography and urban planning, archaeology, architecture. The Master programme is also open to architects, professionals working in the field of cultural enhancement (archaeology, museology, museum curators), economists specializing in the management of cultural heritage, professionals specializing in the management / restoration of cultural heritage (engineers, paleo-metallurgists) and archaeologists.

Scholarships and fees

The participation fees for self-sponsored students are € 1,500 per year.
An excellence scholarship is offered by the Master’s Scientific and Liaison Committee (CSLM) to one student entering the second year, based on the results obtained in the first year, reducing his/her participation fees to 500€ in the second year.

Application procedure

All students wishing to apply to the TPTI Joint Master Course must register on the online registration platform. Applicants must upload their application, which consists of several documents:

1. A certified photocopy of the diploma required for registration or equivalences in the scientific and / or professional field;
2. The certificate of their level of knowledge of French and English (with translation into French or English, when necessary);
3. A typed cover letter, written in French or English;
4. Two letters of recommendation in English or French, written by professors from their home university or by professional/scientific supervisors;
5. A curriculum vitae (special attention will be paid to candidates with previous experience in the field of cultural and industrial heritage);
6. A study project, (see research topics proposed on the course website) proposing a comparative study relating to the enhancement of a tangible or intangible technical unit: know-how, tools or machines, building, landscape, or a site accompanied by four basic bibliographic references. The originality of the subject and the commitment of the student will be particularly appreciated. Generally speaking, in their project, students must demonstrate the ability to hold original reasoning in the field, apply this ability to understand in a new situation, and communicate their skills to both specialists and non-specialists;
7. The application form fully completed and dated.

Note: To all candidates who have already defended a thesis, it is requested to submit the PDF version on the application website.

Selection procedure

Admission is decided by the International Scientific Committee (Comité Scientifique et de Liaison du Master - CSLM), which acts according to the shortlists proposed by the members of each partner university after examination of the students' records. The Committee ranks applications and sets a waiting list.
